These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern purchases from and use of LAJDM.com and transactions with LA JDM (“LA JDM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By placing an order, purchasing a product, accepting delivery, or otherwise completing a transaction with LA JDM, you agree to these Terms and all applicable policies presented in connection with your transaction, including our Warranty, Return/Refund, Shipping, and Privacy Policies.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right or remedy that cannot legally be limited or waived under applicable law.
⸻
1. PRODUCTS AND PRODUCT CONDITION
LA JDM sells engines, transmissions, automotive components, replacement parts, performance products, and related merchandise.
Unless specifically advertised as new or remanufactured, engines, transmissions, and automotive components may be used products.
Used products may show normal signs of previous use, including cosmetic wear, discoloration, surface oxidation, dirt, grease, scratches, markings, or other conditions consistent with used automotive components.
Photographs may be representative unless a listing specifically states that the customer will receive the exact unit photographed.
Accessories attached to a used engine or transmission may be included for convenience but are not necessarily covered by warranty unless specifically stated in writing.
⸻
2. VEHICLE COMPATIBILITY
Customers are responsible for confirming that the product ordered is compatible with their vehicle before purchase and installation.
Vehicle year, make, model, engine code, transmission code, VIN information, emissions configuration, drivetrain, ECU, wiring, sensors, accessories, and other specifications may affect compatibility.
Compatibility information provided by LA JDM is based on information reasonably available to us and does not replace verification by the purchaser or installer.
Certain products may require transferring components from the customer’s original engine or transmission.
Customers should have a qualified automotive professional verify compatibility before installation.
⸻
3. ORDERS AND PAYMENT
All orders are subject to acceptance and product availability.
LA JDM may request additional information reasonably necessary to verify a transaction, prevent fraud, confirm compatibility, or arrange shipment.
We reserve the right to cancel or refuse an order where we reasonably believe there is fraud, payment risk, a pricing or listing error, inventory unavailability, or another legitimate business reason.
If LA JDM cancels a fully paid order before shipment and no product or service has been provided, amounts paid for the canceled merchandise will be refunded as required by applicable law.
⸻
4. PRICING AND LISTING ERRORS
LA JDM attempts to provide accurate pricing, descriptions, photographs, compatibility information, and inventory information.
Occasionally, typographical, technical, pricing, inventory, or description errors may occur.
LA JDM reserves the right to correct an error before fulfilling an order.
If an error materially affects an order that has already been placed, LA JDM may contact the customer to obtain approval of the corrected information or cancel and refund the affected order as appropriate.
⸻
5. DEPOSITS AND HELD PRODUCTS
When LA JDM agrees to hold merchandise for a customer, the applicable deposit amount, balance due, and holding period will be disclosed at the time of the transaction.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a 40% deposit may be required to hold merchandise for up to 30 days.
The customer must pay the remaining balance and arrange pickup or shipment within the agreed holding period.
Any non-refundable deposit or cancellation charge will apply only to the extent disclosed to the customer and permitted by applicable law.
Special-order products may be subject to separate written terms.
⸻
6. SHIPPING
Shipping is governed by LA JDM’s Shipping Policy.
Freight, residential delivery, limited-access delivery, and liftgate/tailgate services may result in additional charges.
Customers must provide complete and accurate shipping information.
Where LA JDM’s fraud-prevention procedures require shipment to the verified billing address, the customer must comply with that requirement unless LA JDM approves another arrangement.
Tracking information will be provided when available.
Delivery dates and transit times are estimates and may be affected by carriers, weather, port conditions, holidays, or circumstances outside LA JDM’s reasonable control.
⸻
7. FREIGHT DELIVERY AND SHIPPING DAMAGE
Customers should inspect freight shipments carefully at delivery.
If a shipment has visible external damage, the customer should document the damage on the carrier’s delivery receipt before signing whenever reasonably possible.
Customers should photograph damaged packaging and merchandise and promptly notify LA JDM and the carrier.
Concealed shipping damage should be reported promptly after discovery.
Failure to document freight damage may affect the ability of LA JDM, the customer, or the carrier to pursue a freight claim.
Responsibility for shipping loss or damage will be determined according to applicable law, the applicable shipping arrangement, carrier rules, and LA JDM’s Shipping Policy.
⸻
8. PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION
Engines and transmissions should be installed by a qualified professional automotive repair facility or technician.
The installer is responsible for determining and correcting the underlying cause of the original engine or transmission failure before installing the replacement unit.
Installation must follow applicable manufacturer procedures and accepted professional automotive practices.
Customers should retain installation invoices, diagnostic reports, receipts, photographs, and maintenance records because LA JDM may reasonably request this documentation when evaluating a warranty claim.
⸻
9. ENGINE INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Before installation and initial startup, the installer must inspect the replacement engine and vehicle systems and perform all procedures reasonably required for proper operation.
Depending on the application, this may include inspection or replacement of:
* Engine oil and filter; * Coolant; * Thermostat; * Water pump; * Timing belt or other serviceable timing components; * Spark plugs; * Belts and hoses; * Seals and gaskets reasonably accessible during installation; * Oil cooler and oil lines; * Cooling system components; and * Other maintenance items recommended for the particular application.
The cooling system must be functioning correctly before the vehicle is operated.
Damage resulting from overheating, lack of lubrication, contaminated oil, incorrect fluids, improper installation, failure to correct the original vehicle problem, or continued operation after warning signs appear may not qualify for warranty coverage.
⸻
10. TRANSMISSION INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Before installing a replacement transmission, the installer must inspect the vehicle and related transmission systems.
Where applicable, the installer should:
* Use the manufacturer-specified transmission fluid; * Properly fill and verify fluid level; * Flush or replace contaminated transmission cooler lines and related components; * Inspect the transmission cooler; * Inspect mounts; * Verify electronic controls and wiring; * Perform required programming, relearn, adaptation, or calibration procedures; and * Diagnose and correct the cause of the original transmission failure.
Damage caused by contaminated fluid, an unflushed cooler, incorrect fluid, improper programming, defective external components, improper installation, or failure to correct the original vehicle problem may not qualify for warranty coverage.
⸻
11. WARRANTY
Warranty coverage is governed by the separate LA JDM Warranty Policy applicable to the product purchased.
Unless a product listing or written agreement states otherwise, LA JDM’s published warranty periods and conditions in effect at the time of purchase apply.
Warranty coverage is limited to defects or failures covered by the applicable Warranty Policy.
A warranty is not a promise that every external component attached to a used engine or transmission is covered.
Customers should review the complete Warranty Policy before purchasing and installing a product.
⸻
12. MODIFICATIONS, RACING AND PERFORMANCE USE
Warranty coverage may be denied where failure or damage results from modification, racing, competition, abuse, misuse, excessive boost, improper tuning, or operation outside the product’s intended configuration.
This may include unauthorized:
* Aftermarket turbochargers; * Superchargers; * ECU tunes; * Nitrous systems; * Increased boost; * Racing modifications; or * Other power adders.
Performance and turbocharged products may have different warranty terms from standard replacement products.
Products identified as off-road or competition products must be used in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
⸻
13. DISASSEMBLY AND UNAUTHORIZED REPAIR
Customers should not internally disassemble a product that is the subject of a warranty claim without LA JDM’s prior authorization when inspection of the intact product is reasonably necessary to determine the cause of failure.
This includes removing cylinder heads from an engine block or opening/splitting a transmission case.
Unauthorized disassembly or repair that prevents LA JDM from determining the cause of failure may result in denial of warranty coverage to the extent permitted by applicable law.
This provision does not restrict rights that cannot legally be waived.
⸻
14. WARRANTY CLAIM PROCEDURE
A customer requesting warranty assistance must contact LA JDM promptly and provide information reasonably necessary to evaluate the claim.
LA JDM may request:
* Original invoice or order number; * Vehicle year, make and model; * VIN; * Mileage at installation and failure; * Installation invoice; * Installer information; * Diagnostic report; * Diagnostic trouble codes; * Photographs or videos; * Maintenance records; and * Other information reasonably related to the claimed failure.
LA JDM may require inspection of the complete product before determining whether a warranty claim is covered.
Customers must obtain a Return Authorization (“RA”) before returning merchandise when required by our return procedure.
⸻
15. RETURN FOR INSPECTION
When physical inspection is reasonably necessary to determine whether a warranty claim, exchange, or refund is valid, LA JDM may require the engine, transmission, or part to be returned before final resolution.
Returning a product does not automatically establish that a warranty claim is valid.
LA JDM will inspect the returned product and determine whether the condition is covered by the applicable Warranty Policy.
If the claim is approved, LA JDM will provide the remedy available under the applicable Warranty Policy and law.
⸻
16. RETURNS, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Returns and refunds are governed by LA JDM’s Return/Refund Policy as disclosed to the customer.
Eligible non-defective returns, refused orders, or customer-requested cancellations may be subject to a 25% restocking fee, original shipping charges, and return freight charges where disclosed and permitted by law.
Generally, eligible returns must be authorized and received within the applicable return period and returned complete and in substantially the condition required by the Return/Refund Policy.
Products that have been disassembled, modified, damaged by improper installation, raced, abused, or returned incomplete may be ineligible for a voluntary return or may be subject to deductions, depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
Nothing in this section limits remedies required by applicable law for merchandise that is defective, misrepresented, or otherwise subject to non-waivable consumer protections.
⸻
17. LABOR AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing or required by applicable law, LA JDM’s product warranty does not reimburse:
* Installation labor; * Removal labor; * Diagnostic charges; * Towing; * Rental vehicles; * Transportation; * Storage; * Vehicle downtime; * Lost income; * Hotel expenses; or * Other incidental expenses.
Customers should not authorize repairs or incur expenses with the expectation that LA JDM will reimburse them unless LA JDM has expressly agreed to do so in writing.
⸻
18. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LA JDM will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages arising from the purchase, installation, removal, use, misuse, or inability to use a product.
Any limitation of liability in these Terms applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
⸻
19. PAYMENT DISPUTES AND CHARGEBACKS
LA JDM encourages customers to contact us promptly regarding product, delivery, warranty, return, or billing concerns so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.
Filing a payment dispute does not by itself determine whether merchandise is defective or whether a customer is entitled to a refund under the applicable purchase agreement.
When responding to a payment dispute, LA JDM may provide the payment processor, card network, issuing bank, or other authorized parties with relevant transaction records, including:
* Order information; * Applicable policies presented at purchase; * Evidence of customer acceptance where available; * Product listing and description; * Shipping and delivery documentation; * Pickup documentation; * Customer communications; * Warranty claim records; * Return records; * Photographs; * Inspection or diagnostic information; and * Other records relevant to the dispute.
